So this lady walks into a bathroom…….

I know what you’re thinking. “Really, Lisa? A lady walks into a bathroom?” That’s how you’re going to start your lastest blog entry?  I know, it sounds like I’m about to tell you a really horrible, tasteless joke, but I promise, I’m not.

I’ve been missing from my blog lately. Sorry about that. Life is busy. I spend alot of time going from activity to activity. With three kids, I race from football, to basketball, to volleyball and everything in between. Oh yeah, and I have a full time job. I’m not complaining, I hope it doesn’t sound that way. I am grateful for being busy. I’ve had a lot of people ask me over the years, “Lisa, how do you do it all?”. That’s a great question and you know what the answer is?

I have no idea.

And that’s the truth. I get up each day, drag myself from the bed (after I’ve hit snooze at least three times) and give myself one hour to get ready and out the door to work. I tell myself I just have to get up and do it – for myself and my family.

That’s how I do it.

But where is the passion in that? Passion is a strong word. Just the other day, while watching TV on the couch, my hubs asked me what’s my passion. What is it that I feel so strongly about, what is it that I want to do to make myself happy? Is it driving my kids to their activities? Is it watching my daughters killing it on the volleyball court or golf course? Is it watching Jake make that big tackle? Ohhh, but those things bring me great joy. I take such great pride in my children and their accomplishments. It is my purpose in life to mold and shape them into the best they can be. But what about me?

So I work in a great firm, as I’ve said before and I’m so lucky to work with great people. I am also lucky enough to share a bathroom with Mary. Mary is one of our IT Help Desk Analyst. Translated, this means Mary takes a lot of crap from a lot of people when their computers aren’t working correctly (um, hello, operator error). And Mary is perfect for this job. She is a fabulous lady and by fabulous, I mean dressed to the nines, hair done, jewlery and,  she has THE best shoes. But mostly importantly, Mary is a genuine person. She always has a smile and a kind word. She always takes the time to ask me how I am, how my kids are, how my new job is going.

So back to the bathroom.

There I am, washing my hands, when Mary comes in, beaming. “Hey, I love your blog”. Mary is, after all, one of my three readers. It’s there, in the bathroom on the 36th floor of our building, that Mary gets me to thinking about what just may well become my passion.

There in that bathroom, Mary tells me how my handful of blog entries entertained her, how my words painted a visual picture for her and made her happy. She asks me if I think if I’ll ever write a book. Wow, a whole book.

I’ve got alot of stories. I’ve got a crazy extende family, three great kids and an amazing hubby. Someday, that could be a book! But for now, I think I’ll keep blogging away. It makes me happy, keeps my brain working and makes at least three other people happy….Mary included.

So, have you found your passion? What is it? How long did it take you to find it? Have you shared it with others?

Whatever it is, I hope you have someone like Mary, who, even in a bathroom in the middle of an ordinary work day, can make it all seem worth it!
